Starting Fall 2026, we are updating the SAFE software approval process to make it faster, easier, and streamlined so you get the digital tools you need for your classroom quicker. Based on your feedback, we have made major changes to reduce approval delays and to save you time:

    1. New Path for Industry-Standard Tools – In the past, getting everyday, industry-standard tools (like CAD software or professional coding platforms) approved was difficult because these massive companies rarely signed district-specific security forms. We have now created a new, streamlined approval path specifically for these “General Purpose” programs. If a tool is built for the general public, we can now review their standard contracts and potentially approve them without requiring our custom paperwork.
    2. We are Unifying the Disparate SAFE Lists – There is no longer a distinction between the ‘Adult’ (or Staff) list and the Student SAFE list. When completing the SAFE Review Request Form, your responses will dictate which pathway the approval will follow. With this change, you will find that the SAFE Website now lists ‘Requirements’ for each application that must be honored to use the application in CCSD.
    3. Less Paperwork and Tech-Hunting for Teachers –We have removed the highly technical questions from the teacher request form. You won’t have to hunt down vendors to get answers about data encryption or AI training models anymore. You just tell us how you want to use the app with your students, and our Technology Team will handle the deep-dive security checks behind the scenes.

Our goal is to handle the technical compliance so you can get back to teaching.
